This is what our staff say about working at Seadragonz…

I’m heading up to three years of working at Seadragonz and wow what a ride it has been. I originally started as a swim instructor in the pool a few nights a week. I was after more work so I asked if there was anything available, they offered me some reception work, of course I said yes I was eager to learn more about Seadragonz and how things worked. Once I got trained up by a fantastic fellow receptionist, I then scored myself some new shifts! I proceeded to be asked if I would be interested in some admin side of things, yes of course I said! This has now brought me to working full time.

I’ve been offered amazing opportunities that I would never have been offered anywhere else. I’m having the chance to learn and grow in my own set of skills whilst having the option to socialise with our wonderful families that come to this amazing facility.

Instructors are offered a winter reward for showing up to work every day in the winter months and keeping your health in good form – guess who’s won that two years in a row! Instructors are also offered all expenses paid to attend conferences in Perth. Myself and another colleague were flown to Adelaide to learn on our new computer system, Seadragonz is all about increasing the ability of yourself and improving the work place. I have been taken out for several dinners to say thank you for what I do and also won a trip to Bali for my partner and myself for putting lots of hard work into helping this place grow.

I could ramble on about how much I enjoy working at Seadragonz but I’m sure you can already tell! I thrive of coming to work and can’t wait for the next few years to come.

Each day, I look forward to the camaraderie, the potential growth both personally and

Seadragonz recognizes the value we bring to the business, both in and out of the pool. Since joining the Seadragonz family I have been given numerous opportunities to develop my knowledge, implement initiatives, and contribute to a work environment that is fully committed to its customer experience and providing a utopian workplace. Where we are each motivated  with exciting new challenges and the chance to think outside the box, as a result I leave work each day with a strong sense of belonging and accomplishment.

I could not have imagined that I would find such an empowering workplace.

Seadragonz truly is unique, I’ll be forever indebted the difference working here has made to my life.

I started at Seadragonz as a business and admin trainee straight out of school. 3 years on and I have learnt so much and have been given endless amounts of opportunities. Opportunities you wouldn’t think were possible working in a swim school and small business. Owners Lari and Bill have always been so generous in expanding my knowledge in any way they can.

In my time working at Seadragonz I have been to Sydney for the National Drowning Prevention conference, Queensland for the Australian Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association Convention and Adelaide for training on a new booking system upgrade. I have also attended numerous professional development courses in Perth. All of these things have expanded my knowledge and opened my mind up to a new way of possibly making Seadragonz better.

Seadragonz is a great place to come to work every day, it is always filled with happy smiley people.

It is such a good feeling to be able to say you love your job and love coming to work.

“I have worked at Seadragonz in a part time teaching capacity for 5 years and in January 2014 began fulltime as teacher and admin support. I first learned of Seadragonz from Lari with whom I did my AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety course.
I started teaching at a council owned pool with swim school. I had classes that were for parent with baby and school aged children. I also enjoyed working for The Department of Education WA in both the Interm and Vacswim programs.

At Seadragonz we are encouraged to do upskilling training to improve our own teaching ability. If there is a difficult class we can seek advice on how to best manage and improve the area of concern. I like that we teach with love and respect in where the child and parent may be. It is difficult to learn a new skill if not relaxed. As a teacher you are still learning from the people you teach as each one is very different from another. Sharing positive experiences in the water with families is a job I love. Oh yes we do the swimming and safety parts which are fun too.

There are incentives to encourage staff going above and beyond our current skill set. Some staff have enjoyed reward gifts such as towels, restaurant dinners, and beauty treatments, payment of yearly King Neptune conference, and holidays in Bali, Sydney or Melbourne.

We have an annual family breakfast before Christmas where the whole staff and family members are invited to share time and food in a family friendly restaurant. What a fantastic way to start the Christmas holidays. We are even financially rewarded for looking after our own health. I don’t know of many companies that do that.

At Seadragonz you can be more than a swim teacher. There is administration support and training of new teachers or an outreach to the community by teaching CPR through SIDS for Kids WA. I enjoy too many benefits to name but my fave so far is taking my friend Tara to Sydney for a weekend getaway.
Seadragonz has repeatedly demonstrated its conscientious service towards local and wider community in a professional manner and I enjoy being part of that commitment. I am happy to be teaching at Seadragonz where I feel valued and challenged with new responsibilities.”

“I have been a part of the Seadragonz team for over a year and a half and have loved every minute of it. After having my second child, I needed an enjoyable but part-time job/outlet. I had taught swimming during my university degree and loved it so it was a great fall back.

I was lucky enough to find Seadragonz needing staff at the time so I signed up. So many things that make Seadragonz an awesome place to work. The core are the owners (Lari and Bill) and the energetic and enthusiastic staff who really care about teaching swimming, kids and having fun.

The pool, toys, equipment, lollies, surprise morning or afternoon teas or lunches, theme days, the gorgeous (and challenging) kids, the dedicated parents are all fantastic too. Seadragonz provide staff with a career in addition to swimming teaching if that is of interest.

I wanted to do some reception work and was immediately trained and now work on the front desk as well. We all also have full support from Lari and Bill to undertake any further training (TAFE or other)! In addition, Seadragonz pay for staff training and personal development. We get to go to conferences, workshops both locally and nationally. It is apparently rare to love your job but I do!”

“I have been working with Seadragonz for about 2 and a half years, and I love it!   The kids are great! They seem to have so much fun they don’t even know they are learning to swim.

Watching them progress from a frightened little baby or toddler to a confident little swimmer without them feeling at all pressured to do anything “scary” is amazing! Having so much choice in toys and equipment the kids are focused on playing and learn without even knowing it!  (makes our job easier!)  And when you work in an environment where you get paid to “play” why wouldn’t you love it!  Seadragonz is the best place I have ever worked for.

Our shifts are permanent and secure and we are rewarded WAY too generously – I have had so many rewards I can’t name even them all – here’s a few of the big rewards that I have received in the past year- A trip to for 2  Bali fully paid for, a trip to the Gold Coast to attend a conference where I not only had a great time but also got to increase my knowledge on teaching,  and a weekend getaway for myself and my family, again all paid for and  all simply for doing a job that I love doing; go figure!  Our training and qualifications are all discounted and some cases paid for – The other staff are all easy going and easy to get along with.  We are heard and our needs are always put first. I am definitely very lucky to have such a great place to work!”
